Students who wish to be considered for this competitive scholarship must submit an essay explaining why they wish to study Marine Biology at UMM. Students will be selected based on their high School record, SAT or ACT or equivalent test scores, and the quality of their essay. Students receiving this award will receive <strong>$1,000 per year<\/strong> in addition to any other scholarships for which they qualify. The successful candidate will receive this award for all four years of their degree as long as they maintain a 3.0 GPA or higher in the Marine Biology program and a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.<\/p>\n<p>The completed application must be submitted by\u00a0March 1, and successful candidates will be notified of this award by\u00a0March 20th.<\/p>\n<p>Please submit essay, high school records and test scores to the Admissions office at\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:ummadmissions@maine.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ummadmissions@maine.edu<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Each year UMM will select two or more new, first-year or transfer students, with preference given to out-of-state students.
