The University of Maine at Machias is committed to your success and we recognize the challenges many first-year students face in their initial semester. In an effort to increase your academic success and emphasize our continued effort to provide meaningful support to students, we are proud to be a part of the \u201cMake the Grade Student Success Initiative.\u201d<\/p>\n

Eligible students, who received one F grade in the Fall 2020 semester as a first-time, first-year student will have the opportunity to repeat a course at no tuition cost for up to 4 credits during the 2021 calendar year. You are not required to repeat the same course that the F grade was earned in, although you should consider doing so to improve your overall GPA.<\/p>\n

Program Eligibility and Application Process<\/h3>\n

Students who are eligible for the Make the Grade Student Success Initiative will be notified individually both via email and a letter sent to the student\u2019s permanent mailing address on file.<\/p>\n

You must meet the following criteria to be considered for the opportunity to receive funds to cover a future course:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. You were enrolled full-time (12+ credits) during the fall 2020 semester as a first-year student<\/li>\n
  2. You were a first-time student in the fall 2020 semester<\/li>\n
  3. You earned only one F grade in a course up to 4 credits<\/li>\n
  4. You must be enrolled full-time in the semester (Spring 2021 and Fall 2021) you wish to use the award. Full-time enrollment is not required for Summer 2021.<\/li>\n
  5. You must complete the online application available below.

    It is a student\u2019s responsibility to complete the application by the deadlines listed below:<\/p>\n

    Spring 2021 semester \u2013\u00a0Friday, January 22, 2021<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Summer 2021 semester \u2013\u00a0Friday, May 7, 2021<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Fall 2021 semester \u2013\u00a0Friday, August 27, 2021<\/strong><\/p>\n
